AU Rochester sponsored a virtual talk by Monica Miller who heads up the American Humanist Association legal department.  This event occurred on October 26, 2020 at 7 pm and was co-sponsored by the Secular Humanists of Rochester.  Miller spoke to us from California.

AU Rochester participated in the 2020 Suffragist City Parade sponsored by the National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House on September 20.  It was a virtual parade & was a celebration of Hope, Courage, & Change.

On the second day of AU's 2020 National Advocacy Summit, attendees lobbied their representatives in Washington (virtually).  AU President Bob Goldstein & AU Vice President Linda Stephens lobbied Rep. Joe Morelle, Senator Chuck Schumer, & Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, encouraging them to work toward the passage of The Do No Harm Act (H.R. 1450/S. 593.)


On September 14, AU's 2020  National Advocacy Summit took place.  (It was a virtual event.)  Several AU Rochester Board members were in attendance.

Robert P. Jones, CEO & founder of the Public Religion Research Institute and author of "White Too Long: The Legacy of White Supremacy in American Christianity" participated in a panel titled "Dismantling White Privilege: Race, Religious Freedom & Christian Nationalism." His book is well worth reading.

    ​On November 23, 2019, AU Rochester co-sponsored a visit to the city by Boston U. law professor Jay Wexler, who spoke about his new book "Our Non-Christian Naion" at Nox in Village Gate.  Big turnout. Fun event.
    • Rochester AU Prez Bob Goldstein & VP Linda Stephens did some tabling on October 6, 2019, at an event sponsored by the Temple Sinai Social Action Committee & the Rochester Pachamama Alliance held at Temple Sinai in Rochester.  The title of the event was "Unmasking What's Happening to Our Democracy and What We Can Do."  Here's Bob signing up an interested attendee.

    Rochester NOW President Sarah Timmerman speaks at an event sponsored by the Rochester Chapter of AU at Brighton Memorial Library on September 23, 2019.  Sarah's talk was titled:  "Abortion Bans: What Happens When Church & State Are Not Kept Separate." 







    Rochester AU participated in the "Close the Camps" demonstration in front of the Federal Building on July 2, 2019.
